So I recently got invited into the Closed Beta for Hi Rez Studio’s game, Smite. I was a bit leery about playing the game in the first place, mainly because I heard the gameplay was identical to League of Legends. Yes, it is. The gameplay is the same. Or at least that’s what it seemed like based on my experience in the Beta. I’m not a big fan of League of Legends, mainly because of the long revive timers and quick deaths. In SMITE, You queue up for a match, choose your champion (or god) to attack your enemies towers, and end the game by destroying their guardian at their base. The only difference that I could tell is the camera angle, because it’s a third person view. So it has the feel of a MMORPG, which makes the game even more enjoyable to me compared to League of Legends. I really enjoyed the vivid spell effects, and the graphicdeaths. I also enjoyed playing to defend the beautiful phoenixes in our base. What I didn’t like is figuring out what the heck to do. Yes, I read my spells and abilites but I always end up being the slowest one to level up with the most deaths. Needless to say, many of my team mates were not happy with me at all. I don’t blame them.
The game itself is fun considering that it’s a free-to-play game. Of course, this review is based on my opinion. I always encourage gamers to try out new games, because let’s face it…I’m not the best critic when it comes to games. My reasons are simple when it comes to gamig, either I don’t like the game or I do.
